1/4 cup diced Onion |
1/4 cup diced Tomato(seeds removed) or Red Bell Pepper |
1/4 cup Sweet Corn, optional |
Directions:
- Take 1+1/3 cups warm water in a bowl. Add 1 package dry yeast (1/4 ounce), 1/4 cup milk powder and 1 tablespoon sugar. Stir with a spoon and let it rest for 5-7 minutes to proof the yeast.
- The mixture will turn foamy.
- Sift 4 cups maida in a large bowl. Add proofed yeast mixture, 3 tablespoons oil and salt.
- Mix well. The mixture will turn sticky, don’t worry.
- Knead the dough until it is smooth and soft on a flat surface or using a stand mixer, for around 8-10 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 3 equal portions to make 9-inch pizzas.
- Sprinkle a little bit of flour or cornmeal or semolina(rava/sooji) on the flat surface and roll out each dough ball into an 8-9 inch diameter circle.
- Add 1-1.5 tablespoons oil and a little bit of cornmeal or semolina(rava/sooji) in each pan or a baking tray and spread them evenly. Place rolled circles in a pan or a baking tray. Spread some olive oil on the top surface of the pizza.
- Cover the pans with a towel or a plate and place in a warm area. Let them rise for 1 to 1½ hours.
- Preheat oven to 475F (245 C). On each pizza base, spread approx. 1/3 cup pizza sauce evenly.
- Top each pizza with approx. 1/2 cup to 2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, and toppings of your choice (bell pepper, tomato, onion).
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes at 475F (245 C), until the cheese is hot and melted and the pizza crust turns golden brown.
- Remove the pizzas from the oven and let them sit for 5 minutes. Cut them into slices. The Pizza is ready.
Tips and Variations:
- Don’t reduce the amount of oil to get the flavor like Pizza hut pan pizza.
- If active dry yeast is not available, you can use instant dry yeast instead of that(add it directly to the dough, no need to proof the yeast).
- Feel free to customize it as per your choice of toppings.
- This recipe makes 3 9-inch pizzas.
