Ingredients:
1 cup Plain Curd (yogurt/dahi) (250 ml)
1/2 teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder (or cumin-coriander powder), optional
1 tablespoon finely chopped Coriander Leaves or Mint Leaves, optional
Salt, to taste
2 cups Water
Directions:
  1. step-1
Take 1 cup (250 ml) curd(yogurt) in a deep bowl.
  2. step-2
Add 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder (or cumin-coriander powder), 1 tablespoon finely chopped coriander leaves or mint leaves, and salt to taste (approx. 1/4 teaspoon).
  3. step-3
Add only 1 cup of water.
  4. step-4
Blend well using an immersion blender (hand blender). Add the remaining 1 cup of water and blend again for a few seconds. You can also use a mixer grinder or a blender instead of a hand blender to make chhas.
  5. step-5
Masala Chaas is ready for serving.
Tips and Variations:
  • If you don’t have an immersion blender, you can blend all the ingredients in the big jar of a regular blender or mixer grinder. Add only half of the water to blend everything smoothly, and then add the remaining water.
  • To make plain buttermilk (chaas), don’t add any spices or herbs.
Taste: Salty
Serving Ideas:  This cooling beverage can be served with any Indian style meal or after a meal.
