Instant Pot Brown Rice Recipe (with Step by Step Photos)
To cook brown rice in an instant pot is super simple and you will get the perfect rice every time without failing. Just put the rice with water in the instant pot and pressure cook for 22 minutes; that’s it. Fluffy rice will be ready within 40 minutes. I know, it takes time but I love the thing that there is no need to watch the rice while cooking, just add and forget it.

Ingredients: |
1 cup Brown Rice |
1¼ cup Water |
Directions:
- Wash 1 cup brown rice and drain excess water.
- Place 1 cup washed brown rice and 1 ¼ cup water in an instant pot. Mix well.
- Close the lid and set the valve in sealing position.
- Cook on high-pressure mode for 22 minutes (Press the “Pressure Cook” button , choose “High Pressure Mode” and set 22 minutes.) Cancel the “Keep Warm” mode.
- When the cooking is done, let the pressure release naturally for 15 minutes. This step is necessary for cooking the rice perfectly. After that remove the excess pressure manually.
- Remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork or a spoon.
- Steamed Brown rice is ready for serving. This rice stays good for 3 days in the refrigerator and up to 3 months in a freezer in an airtight container.
How to Cook Brown Rice Pot In Pot Method (PIP):
- Pour 1 cup water in the instant pot. Place a steel trivet inside the pot.
- Place an oven safe glass bowl or a steel bowl over the trivet. Add 1 cup brown rice and 1¼ cup water to the bowl.
- Close the instant pot lid. Press the Pressure cook button and cook on high pressure for 22 minutes. Let the pressure lease naturally for 15 minutes. After that release the pressure manually.
- Remove the lid. Remove the bowl carefully and fluff the rice with a fork. Brown rice are ready.
Tips and Variations:
- Wash the rice before cooking to prevent them from turning sticky.
- This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled.
