Sour cream and Onion Dip 
This sour cream dip with onion has a thick and creamy texture with onion flavor. It is made with sour cream, green onion, onion powder, dried onion, garlic powder, cilantro (or parsley), black pepper, and salt and can be ready within 5 minutes. This homemade onion dip is perfect for parties and also can be made in advance. If you are an onion lover, you can add sauteed onion as well for extra flavor (*tips).
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Sour Cream
2 tablespoons finely chopped Green Onion or Fresh Chives
1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder or (1 small clove of minced or grated Garlic), optional
1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
1 tablespoon dried minced Onion, optional
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh Parsley or Cilantro (1/4 teaspoon dried parsley), optional
1/8 teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
Salt, to taste (approx. 1/8 teaspoon)
Directions:
  1. We have used dried minced onion in this recipe but if it is not available, you can skip it or add 2 tablespoons diced and cooked onion.
  2. Take 1/2 cup sour cream in a medium bowl.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion (or fresh chives), 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or (1 small clove of minced or grated garlic), 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 tablespoon dried onion, 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley or cilantro (1/4 teaspoon dried parsley), 1/8 teaspoon black pepper powder, salt to taste (approx. 1/8 teaspoon).
  4. Mix well and taste for the seasonings. Refrigerate for 45 minutes to 1 hour to allow the flavors to blend well. Sour cream onion dip is ready for serving. Serve it with fries, chips, or crackers.
Tips and Variations:
  • *If you don’t have dried onion, you can add 2 tablespoons diced and cooked yellow onion or white onion to this dip. (Sauté onion in 1 teaspoon butter until golden and then mix with the dip.)
  • This recipe serves 2 (approx. 1/2 cup dip). It can be easily doubled or tripled as per the requirement.
  • You can use green garlic, green onion, or chives as per the availability.
  • To make it extra creamy, add 4 oz cream cheese along with other ingredients.
Taste: Salty
Serving Ideas: Serve it with chips, crackers, or fresh-cut veggies as an afternoon snack or as a party snack. It can be also used as a spread for sandwiches.
